Initial Steps to Apply:

A. Expression of Interest Registration:

Before you begin your application, you must register using the OINP’s Expression of Interest (EOI) System. Here’s how to start:

  1. Register your EOI: Submit your Expression of Interest online.

Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA): Wait for an invitation from OINP to proceed

B. Application Submission:

Once you receive an ITA, you can submit your application online to be nominated by the Ontario government for permanent residency.

C. Federal Application:

Applying to IRCC

If you are nominated, the next step is to apply to the federal government through Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), which makes the final decision on your permanent residency status.

Stream Requirements:

1. Educational Requirements:

To qualify, you must:

  • Complete at least one academic year of full-time study for a master’s degree from an eligible Ontario university.
  • Not be enrolled as a student unless you meet specific conditions (e.g., working full-time or studying for a regulated occupation).

2. Language Proficiency:

You must prove language skills in English or French at a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher through approved tests like IELTS (General), CELPIP (General), PTE Core, TEF, or TCF.

You must have lived in Ontario legally for at least one year within the past two years before applying.

4. Settlement Funds:

You must demonstrate sufficient funds to support yourself and your family through bank statements, employment earnings, or a job offer in Ontario.

5. Intention to Reside in Ontario:

Show your intention to live in Ontario by demonstrating ties such as employment, property ownership, or family connections.

6. Legal Status in Canada:

If you are in Canada, you must have legal status (study permit, work permit, visitor record) at the time of application and nomination.

7. Application Timeline:

Submit your application within two years of completing your master’s degree. Use the date on your degree or an official university letter if you haven’t yet to receive the degree.
