If you meet the following criteria, you are qualified to apply for the Alberta Opportunity Stream:
Valid work permit received as a result of the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)
A valid work permit is not necessary in the following circumstances:
Applicants work in an LMIA-exempt occupation.
Applicants have a work permit after graduation:
Temporary resident status in Canada
Work in an occupation recognized by AINP.
Work experience relevant to the job for which you are applying
CLB and NCLC require language test results with a minimum score of 5. (in some cases 7 is also required)
The language proficiency results must be from IELTS/CELPIP/TEF Educational credential
A post-secondary institution
Or
A two-year diploma
Or
An undergraduate/graduate degree
12 months of full-time employment experience in Alberta during the last 18 months
Or
24 months of full-time job experience in Canada within 30 months
Enough money to live in Canada
Eligibility requirements for the Self-employed Farmer Stream programs
The following are the eligibility requirements for the Self-employed Farmer Stream:
- A farm business plan in Alberta province
- Evidence of agricultural management abilities
- Evidence that a Canadian institution is willing to invest
- CLB and NCLC 4 for language proficiency
- Completion of high school and receipt of a diploma certificate comparable to Alberta educational standards
- Must have an annual income of at least $ 23,392
A net worth of at least $500,000 is required
Eligibility Criteria for the Skilled Worker Category for both the company and the applicant
The following are the eligibility requirements for foreign workers in the Skilled Worker Category:
- Must declare a desire to work and live permanently in Alberta.
- Valid work permit if the candidate resides in Alberta at the time of application

The following are the employer’s eligibility conditions in the Skilled Worker Category:
- The employment offer must meet the Alberta government’s employment requirements.
- The employer must be a Canadian citizen.
- The work must be classified as NOC skill level A, B, or 0.
- A certified Labor Market Impact Assessment must accompany the job offer (LMAI).
- Before accepting applicants who do not live in Alberta, the company must make an effort to recruit from Canada and Alberta.
International Graduate Category Eligibility Criteria
- Must have a valid post-graduate work permit and demonstrate a desire to live and work in Alberta Province

- You must have a job offer from the Alberta business who is nominating you for the AINP.
- The job offer must be full-time and permanent.
